About the Artist

Dr. Frederic Mendelsohn, holder of both a BA and MA degree as well as a MD, is predominantly a landscape artist utilizing both oil and egg tempera paints. 

Possessor of over four decades of experience, Frederic has studied extensively with the Art Students League in NYC, The Art League of Long Island, New School University, and Marymount College and is a proud member of the Long Island Museum Artist Guild as well as the Setauket Artist Group and the North Shore Art Guild.

Students will begin the class with the selection of a scene considering composition and aspect. A detailed discussion regarding paint mixtures and values leads the student into the painting process. In true atelier fashion, helpful suggestions follow the painting process to a successful conclusion.

Additionally, as a physician and oil painter for over five decades, instructor Fred employs and teaches a method that virtually eliminates exposure to the toxins that artists fear.

DISCLAIMER: All classes require a minimum of 3 students per class per session unless a higher minimum is required by an individual instructor. Any class that does not meet the 3 person minimum before the start of the new session will be canceled. Calls and emails are made to any enrolled students in classes that have not met registration minimums to ensure student satisfaction.
