Welcoming our Newest Instructor, Marlena Urban!
Marlena Urban (she/her) is an art educator based on Long Island. She obtained her M.F.A. in
Studio Art at CUNY Brooklyn College. There, she gained hands-on experience in teaching oil
painting to undergraduate students, thus starting her longtime career and passion for teaching art
as she does today. Marlena’s artistic background is rooted in oil painting, illustration, and
sculpture. She is an adjunct professor in the Visual Arts department at Suffolk County
Community College.

Intro to Oil Painting

BEGINNING SUMMER I 2026 (July 6 - August 1)
Learn the foundations of oil painting! This class teaches you how to apply light and shadow and focus on mastering value. We will also cover harmonious color theory and simplifying shapes. Finally, the class will conclude with compositional methods that will help you create striking paintings!
