Kid's Classes

Teacher teaching children how to draw a dog.

Youth Art & Art History (Ages 6 - 12)

Instructor: Linda Catucci

A course for ages 6-12 where your child enjoys a creative array of art projects while learning Art History from the Renaissance to Modern Art, from realism to the abstract and everything in between.

Students learn everything from drawing with pencil and oil pastels, painting with acrylics and watercolor as well as clay sculpting. In addition, during each class, we take a short break to enjoy a video on an artist, artwork or subject pertaining to that day’s lesson.

Our goal is to teach students the 7 Elements of Art and the 7 Principles of Design through fun and challenging projects. Here they can create their own beautiful self-expressive artwork while gaining confidence, focus, increase their creativity and use their imagination.

Winter II Project Themes:

  • Henri Rousseau - Learn about foreground, middle ground, and background by designing fantasy jungle artwork in the style of Rousseau.
  • Shiny Objects - Learn how to draw realistic shiny items like metallic bows and spoons.
  • Gustave Courbet - Learn about basic rules of drawing the head and features, and draw your own "desperate" self-portrait in the style of Courbet's "Desperate Man".
  • Valentine Cupcake - Join in some holiday fun while we paint a cute cupcake just in time for Valentine's Day!

Winter II Session: 4 weeks starting 02/04/23

Winter III Session: 4 weeks starting 03/04/23

Day & Time: Saturdays 10:00am - 12:00pm, In-studio
