Kid's Classes

Youth Art & Art History (Ages 6 - 12)

Instructor: Linda Catucci

A course for ages 6-12 where your child enjoys a creative array of art projects while learning Art History from the Renaissance to Modern Art, from realism to the abstract and everything in between.

Students learn everything from drawing with pencil and oil pastels, painting with acrylics and watercolor as well as clay sculpting. In addition, during each class, we take a short break to enjoy a video on an artist, artwork or subject pertaining to that day’s lesson.

Our goal is to teach students the 7 Elements of Art and the 7 Principles of Design through fun and challenging projects. Here they can create their own beautiful self-expressive artwork while gaining confidence, focus, increase their creativity and use their imagination.

Spring III Project Themes:

  • Museums on the Go – join us as we invite the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum to present “Mermaids &Manatees” and learn about these incredible marine mammals and discover how they inspired the legend of the mermaid!
  • Catherine Rainer – learn about Award winning author and illustrator, Catherine Rainer and learn how to paint rabbits in watercolor.
  • Howling at the Moon – learn how to paint this beautiful moonlight wolf painting.
  • Native American Totem Poles – learn about the history of many indigenous peoples of Alaska, British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest, and design your own totem poles.

Students who are registered for Youth Art & Art History will also be able to attend the Saturday Kid's Workshops at no extra charge!
