
The Atelier at Flowerfield is excited to present “The Color of Light: Landscapes & Seascapes,” a dual exhibition of local artists Anthony Davis and Jane McGraw-Teubner opening Thursday, August 6th 2026
This exhibition, “The Color of Light: Landscapes & Seascapes”, will highlight individual styles with unique
artistic visions and perspectives by local artists Anthony Davis and Jane McGraw Teubner. Anthony Davis is a self-taught artist known mostly for his award-winning maritime scenes and seascapes in pastel and oil. He is a Signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists and artist member of both the Salmagundi Club and Lyme Art Association. Anthony’s seascape themed artwork has been shown nationally in numerous ASMA exhibitions, and his work has been featured in International Artist Magazine, and on the cover of Pastel Journal. His paintings have received dozens of awards, including multiple gold and silver medals for pastel at The Salmagundi Club’s Annual Members show. He has also taught his approach to seascape painting and given numerous demonstrations across the country, and currently teaches plein air painting through The Atelier Art School and Gallery. Anthony is represented by numerous galleries on Long Island, New York, Connecticut and Martha’s Vineyard. When not painting, Anthony is a practicing physical therapist for the past 33 years and has recently published his first novel.
Jane is a Signature Member/Master Pastelist, Pastel Society of America and a Master Circle
Recipient, International Association of Pastel Societies. In 2020, she became a Eminent Pastelist with IAPS.
She was on the cover, Plein Air Magazine, with a 5 page article, Oct/Nov, 2017. She is included in “Pure
Pastel” a nationally published book about pastels released in 2019. In 2014 and 2015, she was invited to be a
demonstrator and a field artist at the Plein Air Convention held in Monterey, CA, hosted by Plein Air Magazine. Jane’s artwork has been featured on the cover of the 2013 December issue of The Pastel Journal along with an 8 page article. She was featured Artist December 2017: Huntington Times News, NY. Jane is a resident artist in the Salmagundi Art Club, New York, NY and is on the Board of Directors for The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She taught pastel painting at The Teaching Studios of Art in Oyster Bay, NY from 2009-2018 and presently teaches at her home in East Northport, NY and at the Atelier at Flowerfield, St.
James, NY.
The dual exhibition runs from Thursday, August 6th through September 10th. There will be an opening

“Dueling Demos” and Raffle
Saturday, August, 22nd , 1pm-3pm
Please join us for a special dual artist demonstration, highlighting the two different approaches by Jane and Anthony. During this special presentation, the two artists will interpret the same scene, Anthony using oil and Jane pastel, giving attendees deeper insight as to how individual style and choice of medium influence the color of light in landscape art.
At the completion of the demonstration, both paintings will be made available by raffle, with proceeds to benefit The Atelier: Art School and Gallery.
