Anthony Davis is a contemporary realist oil/pastel artist.
Born and raised on Long Island, he learned of his artistic ability early in life, though it was only after a long career in health care that his desire to pursue art blossomed. Almost immediately he discovered his preferred subject matter: water, whether it be the ocean or coastal scenery. He took workshops with notable painters and found great inspiration from the likes of Donald Demers, Christopher Blossom and Clyde Aspevig.
Immersing himself in painting from life, he came to understand that truth in recreating the landscape exists only outdoors. Over the years his work has evolved to be more tonalist in quality, though he remains dedicated to the scene in front of him.
Anthony is a Signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists and Artist member of both the Salmagundi Club and Lyme Art Association.
His artwork has been shown in museum exhibitions across the country and in numerous plein air events. He won Best in Show at Northport’s 3rd Annual Plein Air Event, and has garnered entrance into Plein Air Easton, the country’s largest Plein Air Competition, in 2011.
His work has been featured on the cover of Pastel Journal and in International Artist, and his paintings have won many awards.
Over the years, Anthony has taught his approach to coastal/seascape painting across the country, and has given numerous demonstrations. He is represented by galleries on Long Island, New York and in Connecticut.

I feel that it is the brushstrokes in a painting which give it life and energy. Art, like life, is a problem-solving process. There is a powerful relationship between the artist and the painting in process. I try to complete each work to solve whatever obstacles I encounter. Sometimes the painting goes quickly and easily. Other times it is a struggle. But it is when I feel most alive.”

Ever since Philip started painting 30 years ago there was one main focus that resonated with him: the figure. He studied anatomy for artists and spent hundreds of hours learning, experimenting with color, composition, and drawing.
Because he's spent well over a thousand hours painting the figure from life it's enabled him to stretch out and create more interesting canvases using the camera as a tool. Some of the themes he's painted include NYC street scenes, boxing (he boxed years ago), the Civil War, the Indian Wars and a series of paintings of imaginary scenes inside museums pulling together a variety of images to create those paintings.
He is founder of the Art Students League of Denver and served as its first president from 1987 - 1993. He’s taught figure painting classes in NYC, Provence, Paris, San Miguel de Allende and demonstrated painting the figure at the Salmagundi Club in NYC and the Fairfax Art League in Virginia.

David Shevlino was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1962. A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania, he also studied at the Art Students' League in New York.
Growing up near NYC, Shevlino was exposed to art as a teenager. He began making trips to art museums at age 15 and developed a love of traditional figurative painting. His early work was very traditional and classically inspired.
However, after many years of experimenting, Shevlino began exploring a looser paint application which straddles the line between representational painting and abstraction. This "in between" area is where the painter feels most comfortable and best able to express his artistic voice.
His paintings are characterized by broad brushstrokes, a sensuous application of paint and an obvious feel for tonal harmonies. At the same time, the artist demonstrates a firm sense of control, tightening up the composition through his deft modeling of the human form.
Shevlino has exhibited work nationally in both solo and group exhibits over the past two decades and currently lives in Wake Forest, NC.
