The Atelier’s Fellowship Program is a rigorous apprenticeship program designed for young artists seeking professional level skills. Fellowship students will be immersed full-time in the practice and study of drawing and painting.
Fellowship students will spend a year developing their skills through various projects set by instructors including still life pieces, self-portraits, figure painting, and creating master copies. Students in this program will also be expected to volunteer during events at The Atelier and help instructors by TA’ing (teacher’s assistant) and monitoring studios when needed.
Yes. Fellowship students are limited to the following class types (under the program):
Fellowship students are still able to take other classes, but they will not be covered under the Fellowship and require payment to attend.
No. Volunteer hours need to be separate from the Fellowship student’s regular class attendance.
There is no limit to how long or short the artists statement should be. Generally, a statement should be no more than 2 pages and be a description of your intent as an artist overall as well as why you would like to be a part of the program.
Professional references, such as art teacher/instructors, are preferred.
