Explore the many small pets you can have in your home or classroom, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and mice. Every animal has different needs and characteristics, and we will investigate all aspects of pets, from what they like to eat to where they like to live.
Included is a visit from some of our 'pet pals' for a fun hands-on experience

The tropical rainforest is one of the most biodiverse in the world. Learn about its main characteristics and how animals survive there.
See how indigenous people utilize its resources and meet some live animals as well.

Simple Machines/ Lego Engineering with The Long Island Science Center
Students become naval architects and are challenged to design and construct boats needed to deliver food and building materials to countries in need.
Through testing, they come to understand the relationship between boat shape, the upward force of water, and buoyancy.
Mathematical concepts and skills are used for the design process.

Levers, pulleys and simple machines come to life when students build them.
Followed by an art lesson on how to design your own Lego characters & draw a 3D Lego brick.

Explore the concept of persistence of vision and how we are able to see movies.
Take the continuity challenge and see if you have what it takes to help make a movie. Discover how 3-D images are made.
Finally, put your movie making skills to the test to create your very own animation with the "Mad Science Cartoon Creator Flip book".
