FULL-TIME ART SCHOOL & GALLERY DIRECTOR
The Atelier, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in St. James, Long Island, New York, seeks a visionary leader as Director to oversee a school of art and gallery.
Qualifications:
● Strong organizational and administrative skills with working knowledge in the nonprofit sector.
● Experience in art curricula, curating exhibitions, and event planning
● Strong interpersonal and networking skills
● Background in art/art history preferred
Responsibilities:
● Oversee instructors, staff of five, and volunteers
● Manage budgets, while driving revenue
● Collaborate with The Atelier’s board of trustees
● Attend monthly board meetings/ schedule and lead weekly staff meetings
Expectations:
● Serve as the primary ambassador for The Atelier
● Develop partnerships, attend local community events, and build donors
● Fundraising and grant writing for the art school and gallery
● Provide an overall creative vision for the future of The Atelier
Summary: The Director of The Atelier Art School and Gallery oversees educational programming and exhibition curation, requiring a blend of artistic vision and business acumen. They manage staff, budgets, and community partnerships, while driving revenue and curating exhibitions to build a vibrant, sustainable creative environment.
Compensation/hours: This is a full-time position. Candidates with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

The Atelier (formerly The Atelier at Flowerfield) is an art school and gallery located on Long Island in St James, New York. Our mission is to enrich and deepen appreciation for the arts in our community and extending to the greater New York metropolitan area. We are committed to creative expression through the study, practice, and appreciation of art in all its forms. We welcome students of all ages, abilities, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, offering a supportive and nurturing learning environment. We always have something to do, whether it's helping as a teacher's assistant in a class, setting up exhibitions, or assisting with the library. Join our team of Volunteers and make some new friends along the way!

Key studio rules
We are always looking for fresh faces here at The Atelier who can bring something interesting to the table! Currently, we are looking for instructors to lead classes around an area of their expertise. We are also always open to artists looking to lead workshops and lectures!

The Atelier offers open studio time to both students and non-students, available on Fridays from 1pm-5pm. Open studio time is FREE for Atelier students currently enrolled in classes, and $10/hour for non-students.
