This class is ideal for anyone who has ever wanted to try the pastel medium or for more advanced pastel artists. Methods to capture mood, atmospheric perspectives, simultaneous contrast and mark making will be covered. Classes will include a short introduction about pastels and materials, followed by demonstrations of still life or landscape subject that includes doing an underpainting. If you have always wanted to try watercolor but didn’t know how to start, this class will help you get over your fear of this tricky medium. Our open figure class takes place twice a month on alternating Monday evenings. Here you will have the opportunity to expand your observation and life drawing skills, working with a nude model. Poses will range from short to long. This is an uninstructed class, but a monitor is available at every class session. This class is intended for artists 18+, students under 18 will need parental or guardian consent in order to participate.

This class is structured to help the intermediate student to understand the medium of watercolor. Target Demographic: Teenage students who have reached their ceilings at
their respective high school art programs and are building their portfolios for specialized art programs.
Admissions into competitive art programs/institutions comes down to the
candidate’s portfolio, and the determining factor for most admissions panels is the quality of the drawings. This afterschool course is tailored to students
(ages 14-18) to cultivate solid drawing skills and techniques while enhancing
their portfolio. Students are guided through a series of weekly challenges that develop their drawing and observational skills. Exercises focus on core drawing fundamentals – form and space, light and shadow, proportion,
perspective, composition, etc.- designed to develop drawing proficiency with
a variety of materials.
This class is for students between the age of 14-18. Younger students may be considered at the instructor’s discretion.

The class will focus on painting in all mediums: oil, acrylic, graphite & charcoal. The students will have the opportunity to paint Still Life, Landscape, portrait and cast drawing.
