Botanical Illustration has been around since about 50 CE and made popular by many artists throughout history, including the master, Pierre Joseph Redoute (1759-1840). People’s love for painting flowers and plants and including them in their artwork is still in practice today.

Students will learn how to accurately draw a live specimen by using careful observation and measuring. After completing the drawing, the students will transfer the drawing to watercolor paper and begin painting with watercolor washes and finishing with dry brush techniques. Patience is key! Some drawing skills helpful, but not necessary for this intro class.
